Yosemite

On this trip, you will experience the towering cliffs of Yosemite and its waterfalls overflowing with snowmelt, green meadows, giant magnificent sequoia trees, craggy cliffs and more!  Hiking with  a group of women who love to challenge and push themselves both physically and mentally, we will be able to explore some of the most iconic hikes and sites that Yosemite is known for. We will be glamping within the park itself, which allows us to spend every waking hour basking in the gorgeous views with sunrises and sunsets just outside our tents every day. Then working with trained guides, we will spend 2 days backpacking and learning the skills that will hopefully lend itself towards future backpacking experiences.

Day 5

Arrive into the Fresno airport by noon so that we can hit the ground running.  Yosemite is only about an hour and a half from the airport, and then we'll make our way to view the giant Sequoia grove within Yosemite itself. After hiking through the vast sequoia forests, we'll make our way to Glacier Point to get an overview of the park before heading to our lodging in Curry Village.  And if the night sky holds out for us, we'll take advantage of the night sky viewing program in Yosemite Valley to gaze and grasp at the stars overhead.

Today we get started hiking early... Yosemite is known for some of its iconic strenuous hikes and we aim to bag a few of them! Staying in the park definitely has its advantages!  We will hike the Mist Trail, and if we are up to it, perhaps hike to Upper Yosemite Falls as well. We will definitely earn our sleep that night.

On Wednesday we get to learn a new skill! We will spend about 8 hours working with local guides to learn how to rock climb on the sheer granite Yosemite cliffs! This class is a great way to learn the ropes - literally - of outdoor rock climbing. We'll take it easy for a few hours in the early evening before meeting with our backpacking guides for an orientation before we head off on our backpacking adventure tomorrow.

We'll start bright and early on our 2 day backpacking trip in Yosemite's backcountry. While it will be less mileage than our Monday trails, we'll be doing the trails with 40 pounds of gear on our backs. After a beautiful trek, we'll learn how to set up camp and all the basic skills needed for beginner backpackers.  Then an early night under the stars!

On this final day of our trip, we wake up with the sun in our tents. After breaking down camp, we'll continue our hike until at last we return to Curry Village. Then we pack up our cars and head to Fresno for a hot meal before we head back to the airport.
