Day 5
We will meet in the Bangor airport on Sunday and then head directly towards Schoodic for an afternoon of hiking in Winter Harbor.
We will make our way to the Bar Harbor area of Acadia for a packed day. In addition to hiking - of course - we will enjoy leisurely bike riding around the park, blueberry picking, and tidepooling. In the evening, we will head to the beach for an inspiring night sky viewing with the rush of the waves surrounding us.
We will drive back into Acadia for some more great hiking. And then as evening approaches, we will take a sunset kayak tour where we'll paddle in the magical waters around Mount Desert as the nesting birds make their ways home. What a perfect way to end the day.
Start off the day with an early sunrise hike to Cadillac Mountain, one of the first places where sunrise is visible in the US. Then we'll leave Acadia NP and head towards Shirley, ME. On our way we will do some hiking to ice caves, and then we'll spend our night glamping in Yurts or a bunkhouse, if you prefer (hotel stay available upon request). Enjoy roasting marshmallows by the fire and the comforting dark skies.
Here's to hoping we see moose! Some of us will seek moose by car and others by boat... our guides will take us to those spots best known for moose spotting. Then after a final hike, we will pack up and head back to Bangor for a delicious meal and airport departure. Because evening flights are more limited from Bangor, we will aim to have you at the airport by 4 pm so that you can catch an early evening flight home.
