Deserts of the Southwest

A spin-off of our mini Desert trip, this tour has been specifically tailored to the needs of frum, female healthcare providers. Knowing that many of you have weekend (Sunday) requirements, we've arranged this trip to start on a Monday morning. You'll earn continuing education credits and network with an amazing group of frum women who share your background and passion for healthcare, while hiking, touring and adventuring through beautiful parks.

On this trip we fly into and out from the Las Vegas airport which offers easy access to Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire, both based in Nevada, while also being only a short drive away from Death Valley in California. Death Valley and Valley of Fire are both spectacular parks that would be impossible to visit during much of the year due to dangerous heat, however in the winter you'll get to experience the gorgeous rock formations and landscapes in temperate weather.   We'll hike up sand dunes, on salt flats at the lowest spot in the US, over multihued rocks and through slot canyons. We will take a hummer tour to the site of abandoned gold mines and we'll take advantage of this designated "gold tier dark sky park" with some evening stargazing. In addition to the hiking and adventures, you will earn continuing education credits (CE or CME) on a wide range of interesting and relevant topics, and networks with like-minded frum, female, healthcare professionals.  Topics during past YNT healthcare trips have included lactation considerations in premature infants, hospice and halacha, EKG analysis, abdominal pain differentials, Stop the Bleed workshop, suturing workshop, wound care workshops, mechanical ventilation refresher, transplant basics, yoga and combatting burnout, bloodborne pathogens and much more.  We anticipate sharing our updated conference schedule in the coming months.

Pricing for this trip is divided into 2 components, a  Conference Fee and the Yifei Nof Experience. This pricing structure allows you to submit the conference fee for reimbursement from your employer. While some employers will cover the entire cost of the program, some may prefer to pay only for the educational component. The Yifei Nof Experience cost varies whether you choose to stay in a private hotel room or share with a colleague. Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

Arrive in Las Vegas around noon and meet your crew! We'll spend this first afternoon hiking in Red Rock Canyon and traveling the scenic drive before we make our way to our base in Pahrump, Nevada. Start with a first lecture on the bus ride and finish with a workshop at our motel.

We will get an early start so that we can watch the sun rise over Death Valley National Park at Zabriskie point. This park is the hottest, dryest, lowest and largest of the national parks in the continental US.  Enjoy a hummer tour to Echo Canyon and abandoned gold mines, and then experience the lowest place in the western hemisphere, Badwater Basin. Hike through golden canyons before the day is over, while of course enjoying interesting lectures during our drives.

We head back to Death Valley today, this time journeying farther north into the park.  Climb undulating sand dunes, visit a volcanic crater, and of course, hike through canyons again. If the skies are clear, we will wait for the sun to set and watch the crystalline sky fill with thousands of stars.

On the final morning of our trip, we will leave Pahrump and head to Valley of Fire state park where we'll see fiery red rocks, petroglyphs, and unusual rock formations.  When we're done hiking, we will head back to Las Vegas for an enjoyable dinner before heading back to the LAS airport to depart.
