Guatemala
Experience active volcanos, rain forest, and a whole new culture! On this trip you will be based in Antigua, Guatemala's "old city" with cobblestone streets and surrounded by volcanoes, with a night spent at Lake Atitlan. In addition to hiking and sightseeing, you will go ziplining, horseback riding, visit plantations , and roast marshmallows over an active volcano!
For those with an adventurous spirit and open to a more rustic experience, we are pleased to offer an excursion up the Acatenango volcano (*circumstances permitting). This option includes a jeep ride, camping overnight in very rustic conditions in near freezing temperatures, and then an extensive pre-dawn hike to watch sunrise over the clouds with the Fuego volcano erupting below you.
Food on this trip will be obtained through the Chabads of Guatemala. Certain snacks and food alternatives may not be available.

Meet up at the GUA airport, and then travel as a group to the old cobblestoned city of Antigua. Start with a light brunch and then head to our first adventure where we'll hike and horseback ride up to the Pacaya Volcano. Enjoy the unique opportunity to roast marshmallows over the hot volcanic vents before heading down the mountain. Then enjoy a hearty dinner before getting your well-deserved rest.
Spend the morning exploring the charming town of Antigua before heading to your afternoon adventure. You will either visit a Macadamia Plantation or embark on the rugged Acatenango overnight, jeeping to your base on the dormant Acatenango volcano while watching the neighboring Fuego erupt all evening. You'll be cold, you'll be breathless from the high altitude and you may be worn out from the hiking... but you'll be absolutely exhilarated by the incredible and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After returning from the mountain you'll enjoy a traditional Guatemalan breakfast before heading to a coffee plantation tour where you'll experience the process of making coffee from the initial planting of the small seedlings all the way through the roasting and grinding process. In the afternoon we will head towards Lake Atitlan, culminating with a boat ride across the lake to San Pedro.
Get an early start to the day with a sunrise hike to the top of Indian Nose. After breakfast on top of the mountain, you will head down for a walking cultural tour of San Pedro and San Juan where you will visit a women's weaving cooperative, a bee sanctuary, ride a tuktuk, and more. Enjoy a final evening in San Pedro.
Start your day with a boat ride back across the water towards Panajachel for an exhilarating morning of ziplining over the rainforest. Then head back for a final evening in Antigua and a goodbye dinner before heading to the airport.
