Guatemala
Experience active volcanos, rain forest, and a whole new culture! On this trip you will be based in Antigua, Guatemala's "old city" with cobblestone streets and surrounded by volcanoes, with a night spent at Lake Atitlan. In addition to hiking and sightseeing, you will go ziplining, horseback riding, visit plantations , and roast marshmallows over an active volcano!
For those with an adventurous spirit and open to a more rustic experience, we are pleased to offer an excursion up the Acatenango volcano (*circumstances permitting). This option includes a jeep ride, camping overnight in very rustic conditions in near freezing temperatures, and then an extensive pre-dawn hike to watch sunrise over the clouds with the Fuego volcano erupting below you.
Food on this trip will be obtained through the Chabads of Guatemala. Certain snacks and food alternatives may not be available.

Meet up at the GUA airport, and then travel as a group to the old cobblestoned city of Antigua. Then head to the outskirts of town for a coffee plantation tour where you'll experience the process of making coffee, from the initial planting of the small seedlings all the way through the roasting and grinding process. Then back to our base in Antigua for a delicious dinner.
Spend the morning exploring the charming town of Antigua before heading to your volcano adventure. Some of you will head for the active Pacaya Volcano where you can either hike or horseback ride up the mountain. You'll enjoy the unique opportunity to roast marshmallows over the hot volcanic vents before heading back down. Others will choose to embark on their rugged Acatenango overnight, either hiking or jeeping to your base on the dormant Acatenango volcano while watching the neighboring Fuego erupt all evening. Those brave and hearty enough may choose to embark on a rough 1000 foot climb in the wee morning hours to watch the sun rise over the clouds.
Begin your day with a traditional Guatemalan breakfast before heading for a tour of a Macadamia Plantation. In the afternoon, we will head towards Lake Atitlan, culminating with a boat ride across the lake to our San Pedro hotel and kayaking on the lake.
We will spend our day on a walking cultural tour of San Pedro and San Juan where we'll visit a women's weaving cooperative, a bee sanctuary, ride a tuktuk, and more. Take the boat across the lake to visit some of the picturesque towns, each with its own flavor and style. Enjoy an evening in San Pedro.
Those who want to pack in every last experience will want to wake up early for a sunrise hike to the top of Indian Nose. After a breakfast on the top of the mountain, we will head back towards Panajachel for an exhilarating afternoon of ziplining over the rainforst. At long last, it will be time to head back to the airport
